UW Tacoma has a system to immediately notify students and employees about emergencies that affect normal campus operations with a text message to the cell phones of those who sign up in advance. Notices will simultaneously be placed on Web pages and sent by e-mail. In addition to emergency or crisis situations, the system will provide information about suspensions or delays in campus operations due to inclement weather.
Current UW students, faculty, and staff may sign up to receive important campus alerts through the university-wide UW Alert system.
Campus alerts are published via the campus Web site, e-mail, and/or SMS text messaging. UW Tacoma may choose one or more of these channels depending on the nature of the alert. Web alerts are publicly available on this page and the UW Tacoma home page. E-mail and text message alerts may be sent to faculty, staff, and/or students as needed.
